The director general of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), Décio Oddone, delivered a letter to President Jair Bolsonaro saying that he will leave his position before the end of his term. Officially this would have come at the end of December, but Oddone has announced that he will remain only until his replacement is approved.

In the letter, Oddone stated that he never belonged to political groups and evaluated having fulfilled the mission assumed in 2016 with "honesty, transparency and public spirit for the development of the greatest transformation ever produced in the oil and gas sector in Brazil."

Among his accomplishments, Oddone mentioned the return of auctions for oil and gas exploration and production and the creation of measures for a permanent supply of areas aimed at small and medium-sized oil companies. In addition to the director general, the ANP is expected to change three more members of the board whose terms of office also end this year.
