Greenpeace activists held a protest in Rio de Janeiro against the British-French company Perenco, which owns two of the 13 oil exploration areas located near the Abrolhos Islands off the coast of Bahia. As the marine reserve with the greatest diversity of the South Atlantic, the site is considered a sanctuary for whales seeking the region during the breeding season.

Simulating a fight between whales and executives, environmentalists have made the demonstration at the entrance of the building where the branch of the multinational oil. Greenpeace supports a ban on oil exploration around Abrollhos.

The organization also sent a document asking other companies that have concessions to operate in the region - Petrobras, Vipetro, OGX, HRT, Shell, Repsol, Cowan, Sonangol and Vale - to keep their activities away from the ecological reserve.
