Regulatory News

The National Petroleum Regulatory Agency (ANP) has decided to suspend all activities related to Chevron's oil drilling in Brazil. The ban will remain in force until the causes of the leak in Frade Field, located in the Campos Basin on the coast of Rio de Janeiro are identified.

The American oil company estimates that about 2.5 thousand barrels of oil leaked into the sea. However, according to estimates by the Secretary for the Environment in Rio de Janeiro, the spill has reached 15,000 barrels.

In a hearing in the House, the president of Chevron in Brazil, George Buck, apologized to society and the government and pledged to comply with the ANP’s decision
