The Federal Police has indicted 17 people for the oil spill, which occurred in Frade Field, Santos Basin, off the Rio de Janeiro coast in November. Charges include environmental crimes and information not reported to authorities. Among those indicted is the president of Chevron in Brazil, George Buck.

Other employees of the American oil company and of the oil company Transocean, which operated the platform responsible for the accident, are also charged in the investigation. The document was sent to the Attorney General's Office, which will report those involved to the Federal Court.
