Rio de Janeiro Civil Police made a large seizure of contraband cigarettes from Paraguay that were sold in a popular fair in the north of the city. Agents collected about 200,000 packs of counterfeit products, some of them with expired dates.

For Officer Alessandro Thiers, who led the operation, it was necessary for people to collaborate and report contraband. "It is necessary to break all links in the chain, from the smuggler who brings the cargo to the seller. Moreover, the population should be aware that those who buy counterfeit material are also committing a crime," he warned.
