The National Petroleum Agency announced that July was a record-producing month for oil and gas fields located in the sub-salt. On average, 208,900 hundred barrels per day were extracted from six fields – Jubarte, Lula, Caratinga, Marlim Leste, MarlimVoador and Barracuda - which meant an increase of 9% compared to June.

This is the second time that the mark of 200,000 barrels / day was exceeded. The first happened in December last year, when 200,600 barrels were pumped out daily. Although production in sub-salt fields has been growing, it still translates to less than 10% of the total for the country - about 2.1 million barrels of oil and gas per day.
