The sharp drop in production in 11 exploration areas in the Campos Basin, off the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, led the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) to notify Petrobras to submit new development plans. An example is the giant Roncador field where it was expected that 460,000 barrels of oil and gas were to be extracted daily, but is only producing 260,000 barrels a day.

The notification to the State was sent late June. Petrobras has until the 30th of this month to submit new plans. If it does not meet the deadline, it may be fined. The company denies that the ANP requirement is related to the decrease in the field’s production field located above the salt layer.
