Scientists at Harvard University are studying Bumblebee flights to find out how these insects can maintain stability even in adverse weather conditions. The goal is to collect information that will help improve the performance of micro air vehicles, so that they remain in the air when the weather is bad.

In the research, the bees are filmed inside a wind tunnel. Images show that insects adjust their speed according to the intensity of the air flow. "Achieving stability obtained by bees during a flight is the goal of the microplane project," said researcher Ravi Sridhar to BBC News.
