While environmentalists and researchers warn that the mass disappearance of bees could cause large losses to agriculture, the population of honeybees has increased 7% in recent years. This is what a study from University of Hohenheim, Germany is showing.

According to biologist Peter Rosenkranz, this apparent contradiction is due to the increase in the number of breeders. "About 95% of the hives today are a part of beekeeping." He estimates. Living in captivity, bees reproduce more easily. However, when they are free to fly and pollinate plants, many end up dying due to various factors that are being studied.
