Famous for having trained dolphins for the TV series 'Flipper' in the 60s, the American Ric O'Barry, now 74 years old, participated in a protest in Japan against the captive breeding of an albino dolphin calf in the aquarium at the Taiji Whale Museum last week. Security guards barred the entrance of O'Barry onsite who then decided to file a lawsuit against the aquarium.

The Taiji Whale Museum uses aquatic mammals in shows for the public and sells dolphin and whale meat. According to the director of the aquarium, Katsuki Hayashi, the albino dolphin is eating well and lives with other animals. O'Barry – a participant in the documentary 'The Cove,' which denounced the hunting of dolphins in Taiji - believes that the calf is suffering by being away from its parents.
