Keeping bees in urban centers is on the rise in Germany. This growth is due to the strong media coverage about the mortality of these insects in rural areas, according to an analysis by the director of the Institute of Apiculture, University of Hohenheim, Peter Rosenkranz.

In an interview with the Deutsche Welle agency, professional beekeeper Klaus Maresch said he has 180 hives in 12 locations in Bonn, which produce organic honey, jelly honey and wax for candles. According to Maresch, a producer must have technical knowledge and know how to control pests without killing the entire hive.
