A study by scientists from Radboud University in the Netherlands indicates that birds are affected by the neonicotinoid pesticides which are suspected of leading to bee mortality. The bees are a food source for these birds.

The research showed that there was a 3.5% decrease in the population of 15 bird species in regions of the Netherlands where a more intensive use of the chemical has been identified. The article that includes results from the study says that additional data is still needed for more thorough conclusions.
