The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the United States is investigating two cases of violent dolphin deaths in the Gulf of Mexico. The first case occurred last month, close to Miramar Beach, Florida, where a female nose bottlenose species had been shot. The second happened at Orange Beach, Alabama where a whale was found with a crossbow arrow in his side.

According to tests, the animal that died in Florida was a few weeks away from having a baby. The whale would have survived for five days before he died of an infection caused by the injury. There were no clues to who had committed the crimes.
