Captured by Japanese fishermen, a rare albino dolphin was sold for US$460,000 to an aquarium (name not revealed), and will be shown publicly. Eleven other dolphins, which were found along with the albino dolphin, were killed in the city of Wakayama in Taiji cove.

The decision to negotiate the dolphin’s captivity has generated protests from environmentalists. "This rare animal, beautiful and unique will spend the rest of his days confined in small tanks, where it will have shortened life and made to do tricks to get food," said Karen Hagen, an activist from the Cove Guardians group.
