The Ministry of Environment issued the new National List of Wildlife Species, which confirmed an increase in the amount of Endangered Animal Species – from 627 ten years ago to 1,173 species now. However, there is good news: 170 species are no longer under threat, including humpback whales.

The increase of endangered species is also due to a more comprehensive survey than in previous years. In 2003 and 2004, 1,137 species were evaluated. The current list studied a number more than ten times higher: 12,256 species.
