Launched by researchers and beekeepers in São Paulo and Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, the campaign 'Bee or not to be?', Which aims to combat the global disappearance of hives, won the approval, support and participation of six Latin American countries: Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela and Cuba. Beekeeping associations from these countries announced that they will use the Bee Alert, an application created to notify and monitor episodes of significant deaths of bees.

The campaign was able to gain this support at the 11th Latin American Congress of Beekeeping, held late last year in Puerto Iguazu, Argentina. With the agreement, it will be possible to share information and gather scientific work in these countries to be presented at the sector’s World Congress to be held this year in Daejeon, Korea.
