In a campaign promoted by the Whale Conservation Institute (ICB) of Argentina, more than 4000 people from 20 countries symbolically adopted Southern Right Whales. With the success of the initiative, nine cetacean species were placed for adoption. The objective is to contribute to scientific research on these animals living in Patagonia.

There are five types of 'adoption', with values ranging from 60 to 200 pesos (US$2.30 to US$69). After the contribution, each sponsor gets a certificate from the ICB, a photo of the chosen whale and material on the life of the giant mammals.
