Brazil started planning for the adoption of a public policy for the conservation of pollinators. The initiative is part of a project for implementing sustainable agriculture which is supported by United Nations bodies such as FAO and UNEP in six countries: Nepal, South Africa, Ghana, India, Pakistan and Kenya.

This policy will have three focuses: controlling pesticides to prevent impacts on pollinator species; reversing and preventing the loss of these insects; and advancing the use of technologies for economic use of pollinators. In Brazil, it is estimated that stingless bees are responsible for pollinating 40% to 90% of the tree species.
