Regulatory News

The National Service of Fishing in Chile reported that at least 20 sei whales were found dead on Friday (May 8), after becoming beached north of the Gulf of Penas, 1950 km south of Santiago. The animals were about 10 meters long.

Sei whales can reach up to 16 meters long and weigh 30 tons. Initial reports were that there were 15 marine mammals stranded at the site. Then that number was raised because the cetaceans had not resisted and died.
