The study The Effects of Diesel Exhaust Pollution on Floral Volatiles and the Consequences for Honey Bee Olfaction published by the Journal of Chemical Ecology, reported that it is becoming increasingly more difficult for bees to recognize flowers exposed to pollution from Diesel.

The study was conducted by researchers at the University of Southampton and the University of Reading and indicates that pollution has a negative economic effect on activities that are influenced by bees.
