Researchers, students and farmers participated in an event Belem, the Para state capital, on the importance of bees in world food production. In a space of 600 square meters, the interested parties were able to learn more about the species native to the Amazon region studied by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa).

The public could see the use of each species in the production of honey, pollen and propolis and the role they have in improving the quality and performance of fruit and vegetable crops. The event, which ends in May, is open to schools in Belem and the region. Children and adolescents participate in a tour of that shows how stingless bees collaborate with environmental conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.
