Regulatory News

The Ministry of Health and the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) authorized the start of human trials of what may be the first serum for bee venom in the world. The research product has been in development over the last 15 years by the Center for Studies and Venomous Animals (CEVAP) of the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP).

By the end of the year, the serum will be analyzed to see if it actually improves the patient's condition. Currently the treatment of bee sting allergy uses anti-inflammatory drugs, which are not specific for insect venoms.
