Regulatory News

Environmentalists began a movement to press the Antitrust Commission of the European Union to disapprove the merger between Bayer and Monsanto, two giants in the global chemical industry. The concern is that the agreement would create a company that monopolizes the seed production market and pesticide manufacturing. Crop protection products are already subject to an investigation on suspicion of causing the death of bees.

If the claims from environmentalists are accepted, the merger process may be delayed by up to at least six months because regulatory bodies often make many demands.
