Regulatory News

The state of Amazonas has just regulated the production of honey by stingless bees. The legislation was formulated based on work done by the National Institute of Amazonian Research, an agency linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The regulations create rules for the creation, management, collection and industrialization of honey from stingless bees for the approximately 15,000 honey producers from Amazonas, who can obtain a state inspection seal as a guarantee of quality. In addition to having no stinger, this type of bee does not have a venom gland, which facilitates in handling by breeders.
